Howard Street Cemetery

Ghost tours say Giles Corey, who was accused of witchcraft in 1692 and refused to stand trial, was pressed to death on this ground and cursed the sheriff and Salem as he died, though the cemetery opened in 1801 and the Salem Witch Museum puts his death in an open field near the jail.
