Places

Places This Tour Covers

Bar

UpStairs Lounge

An arson fire at the UpStairs Lounge gay bar killed 32 people on June 24, 1973, the deadliest fire on record in New Orleans. In 2012, the TV series Ghost Hunters came looking for their ghosts.

Museum

New Orleans Pharmacy Museum

Louis Dufilho Jr., whom the museum calls America's first licensed pharmacist, had this shop built in 1822 and 1823. The stories make its ghost Dr. James Dupas, whose family bought it in 1855: a short man in a brown suit who throws books.

Church

St. Louis Cathedral

The priest Père Antoine wrote that fire engulfed the church before this cathedral "in less than half an hour" on March 21, 1788. Guides tell of his ghost humming hymns in the alley that carries his name.
