The Ghosts of Salem Walking Tour

Run by Ghost City Tours Salem

Book through our links and Spookt gets a small cut, at no extra cost to you. It keeps the research going. How that works

About This Tour

Ghost City Tours positions this as the family and first-visitor version of its Salem walk, with storytelling it calls spooky but not too scary. The listing names the Witch House, Old Town Hall (where guests report apparitions in the windows) and the House of the Seven Gables, whose Woman in White the operator says is its best-known ghost. It suits families and first-time visitors.

Places

Places This Tour Covers

House

The House of the Seven Gables

John Turner built this house on Salem Harbor in 1668, Nathaniel Hawthorne came here to visit his cousin Susannah Ingersoll, and Salem Ghosts counts her spirit and a little boy near the attic among its ghosts.

Other

Old Town Hall

Salem's oldest surviving town building went up in 1816 and 1817 where Elias Derby's mansion stood, and Salem Ghosts says Derby's ghost haunts it, still unhappy that his house was torn down.

Cemetery

Old Burying Point (Charter Street Cemetery)

Salem's oldest burying ground, laid out in 1637, holds witch-trial judge John Hathorne, and the woman in white said to walk among its stones is Mary Corey, first wife of Giles Corey, as the Boston Globe told it in 2018.

House

The Witch House

Often called the only building still standing with direct ties to the 1692 witch trials, Judge Jonathan Corwin's house is the one you can still walk into.
