Salem Ghosts: Witches & Wicked Whispers Guided Walking Tour

About This Tour

Salem Ghosts, the US Ghost Adventures brand, built this walk around the ghost stories of Salem’s best-known buildings: the Witch House, Ropes Mansion, Turner’s at Lyceum Hall, the Salem Inn and the Joshua Ward House. The guide tells them from outside, with the witch trials as the background. It’s a good first ghost walk in Salem.

Places

Places This Tour Covers

House

Ropes Mansion

The Ropes Mansion's front played a part in Disney's Hocus Pocus in 1993, and Salem Ghosts tells of Abigail Ropes, who died after an accident by the fireplace and is said to linger in its rooms.

Restaurant

Turner’s Seafood at Lyceum Hall

An 1867 history puts Bridget Bishop's orchard on the ground under Lyceum Hall, and Turner's Seafood says the ghost of the first person hanged in 1692 still haunts and oversees the building.

Inn

The Salem Inn

The Salem Inn calls Room 17 its own 'famous Haunted Room,' in the house privateer captain Nathaniel West built, and Salem Ghosts says the staff swear to three ghosts: Katherine, a small child and a black cat in the parlor.

Hotel

Joshua Ward House

Popular tradition calls the Joshua Ward House, now The Merchant hotel, Salem's most haunted, blaming Sheriff George Corwin, whose 1692 home stood here, though the Salem Witch Museum counts that among the 'numerous myths' about him.

House

The Witch House

Often called the only building still standing with direct ties to the 1692 witch trials, Judge Jonathan Corwin's house is the one you can still walk into.
